🧭 Itinerary Overview
Day 1 — Arrival in Islamabad. Arrive at Islamabad International Airport and transfer to a centrally located hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 2 — Into Swat Valley. Drive to the lush Swat Valley, once dubbed the Switzerland of Pakistan. Visit the 2,000-year-old Takht-i-Bahi Buddhist monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Swat Museum for an introduction to the region's rich Gandharan history. Overnight in Swat Valley.

Day 3 — The Road to Gilgit. A scenic driving day north toward Gilgit, with stops at mountain viewpoints for photos. Overnight in Gilgit.

Day 4 — Arriving in Hunza. Drive into Hunza Valley, stopping at the historic Old Silk Route and the panoramic Rakaposhi Viewpoint. Check in to your hotel before heading up to Eagle's Nest — one of the most stunning sunset viewpoints in the entire Karakoram — for the evening. Overnight in Karimabad.

Day 5 — The Heart of Hunza. A full day devoted to Karimabad — explore the royal Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, wander through the charming Altit Village, walk along the ancient water channels, and if visiting in spring, witness the spectacular cherry and apricot blossoms that blanket the valley in white and pink. Overnight in Karimabad.

Day 6 — Glaciers and a Turquoise Lake. Drive through Hopper Valley, explore Ganish Village, hike to Hopper Glacier, and spend the afternoon boating on the vivid turquoise waters of Attabad Lake — formed dramatically by a 2010 landslide. Overnight in Gulmit, in the heart of Upper Hunza.

Day 7 — Upper Hunza. A scenic day close to Gulmit — visit the calm shores of Borith Lake, hike up to the Passu White Glacier, stroll through Gulmit Village, and experience the Hussaini Suspension Bridge, one of the most famous — and nerve-testing — crossings in Pakistan. Overnight in Gulmit.

Day 8 — Khunjerab Pass. Drive north to Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 metres — the highest paved international border in the world — and pass through the Karakoram and Pamir Mountain Ranges National Park, where snow leopards and Marco Polo sheep roam. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 9 — Gilgit Revisited. Drive back to Gilgit for a second night in the city. Visit the ancient Kargah Buddha, a 7th-century rock carving on the cliff face above the river, and explore the lively Gilgit Bazaar for local goods and souvenirs. Overnight in Gilgit.

Day 10 — South Through Besham. Drive south with a stop at the Nanga Parbat Viewpoint, gazing out at the world's ninth highest and most dramatic peak. Overnight in Besham.

Day 11 — Taxila & Islamabad. Continue south to Islamabad, stopping at the Taxila Museum to explore one of South Asia's most significant archaeological collections, spanning Gandharan, Greek, and Buddhist civilisations. Overnight in Islamabad.

Day 12 — Islamabad & Rawalpindi, Farewell.
